About

Although Cole & Flour is now a micro-bakery filled with sweet options, the inspiration for this journey had a savory beginning. It all started with a clove of garlic. During a dry season of life, I was desperate, for what I wasn’t sure. I was in a desert place facing immense issues with mental health, my marriage and trying to understand why God thought me being a mom was a good idea. One evening I was cooking dinner and ran out of my minced garlic that I kept in the fridge and all I had were whole cloves, mainly for an aesthetic. (In hindsight everything stays in disarray so I’m not sure what aesthetic I was going for but I digress) I took three cloves of garlic, peeled them and chopped them. In the moment I was probably crying about this inconvenience or at least cursing it in my head, but God turned it around. As soon as the garlic that I peeled and minced hit the oil in the pan, the aroma instantly brought me peace. God showed me how beautiful the reward can be if we slow down. This moment was the start to a lot of change in my life that eventually brought about my love for baking and the chaos that is sourdough. I’m not a master and I’m always still learning but the joys it brings me and others is overwhelming.

This space is a reference to what I bake for local porch pickup but also my journey as an urban homesteader. Welcome and God bless you!
